One more with feeling: No to RH Bill!

THERE was once this world famous character named “Henry K.”—an American professional politician and a perceived technocrat who said in many ways and provided different means in order to accomplish three very selfish and highly detestable societal realities: One, to assure that the number of population in Third World countries was well within tolerable count—according to him. Two, to guarantee that with the deflation of population growth in the said countries, the people therein would not consume practically their natural resources—according to him. Three, to ascertain wherefore that the people of First World countries, especially the Americans, could continue benefiting from the said foreign resources provided by nature—according to him. Crystal clear—according to him.

Thus were deliberately born, definitely promoted and accordingly funded the anti-baby realities of institutional “Birth Control”, open or public “Abortion”, “Population Control”. All these are the gross precursors of the now so fondly yet deceitfully called “Reproductive Health Bill”.

And who are very happy about the socio-ethical maxim that says: “The lesser the population, the better the people.”? Who else? The U.S.A., Europe as a whole, the multinational pharmaceuticals in particular that are very profitably producing contraceptives in various shapes, sizes and colors—plus the present MalacaƱang occupant. In fact, quite recently, this glaring news came to fore: “EU OFFICIALS TO GIVE 35 MILLION EURO FOR RH”. And this is but an “initial fund”. Pray, what for? Of course: To help “poor Filipinos gain free access to contraceptives and strongly back the controversial Reproductive Health Bill …” Neat!

This is a great amount of money “cantante y sonante”—singing and sounding— according to a Spanish saying. In other words, these are billions, man! They are coming and they are arriving but for a start, man! Don’t tell me you do not want to get your hands on them, man! And don’t you dare not avidly support the RH bill, man! What is right or wrong? Who cares? What is proper or unethical? What for?

As usual, in such a connivance among States, the standard scapegoats are the “poor”—who in the Philippines have been long since poor, continue to be poor, and in fact are now becoming even poorer notwithstanding all the glorious pronouncements of the previous administration and the grandiose promises of the present one. Question: Must the Philippines be always a Third World country? Should Filipinos be condemned to poverty and misery? Would the nation ever have a redeeming national leadership? Just thinking. Just asking.

Onanism

THERE was once a man named “Onan”. His older brother died. And in accord with the custom of that age, Onan married the woman widowed by his brother precisely in order to have children by her in memory of his deceased brother. However, whenever Onan engaged in marital sex with his wife, he repeatedly “spilled his seed (semen) on the ground.” Ona was accordingly sentenced to death by God for his “wickedness” (Genesis 38: 3-10). This is certainly not a fairy tale—but a historico-biblical phenomenon.

In these times, the errant deed is called “Onanism”. In these days, the obscene act is known as “Withdrawal”. In the text and context of the foul and shameful “Reproductive Health Bill”, the same detestable conduct is propagated as “Contraception”. Who then dare say with due knowledge and right conscience that the Bill is good and proper, right and just?

That is why: Woe to those who think that contraceptive practices are considered wrong only by old women ignorant of the requirements of modern Philippines, and thus unmindful of the population control imposed on Philippines society as a Third World country—forever! And woe to those feeling omnipotent national executives and omniscient legislators who think that the opposition of the Church against the RH bill is but based on religious sentiments and/or pious postures. And woe in particular to those many scattered and still multiplying religious denominations and sects in practically all nooks and corners of the country—that recently in marvelous unison shouted their support for the RH Bill in the same date, at the same time, with the same fervor!

These “Brothers and Sisters in Christ” by and large continuously and loudly claim that they have but one and only Book to base their faith or creed. Yet, strange to say, they seem to have forgotten the biblical character of Onan, just as they appear to have likewise forgotten the biblical misfortune of Onan. Whether this forgetfulness is but on account of human frailty or due to some considerations—this is not certain. But their loud shout of Mabuhay to RH Bill is rather strange, to say the least.

Oh, yes! This is a free country. The Filipinos are a free people. There is freedom in the Philippines as provided by the Constitution. But let us squarely face the essence and implications of freedom: Are Filipinos free to do what they like and what they want over and above what is right or wrong? Are Filipinos at liberty to act and behave independently of what is good or evil?

And is Onan their saint and patron for what he did and what God in turn did to him? Filipinos: Be real and true—please!

Promiscuity. Irresponsibility. Amorality

NO. This is certainly not but rhetoric poetry as the title might insinuate—but a downright hard-hitting reality. Yes. This is about the now infamous “Reproductive Health Bill” that is seriously dividing the Filipino people—courtesy of the MalacaƱang occupant and his friends. By the way, the Bill is a mighty big misnomer if not a deliberate deceit. Reasons: It is definitely not “Reproductive” whereas it categorically hates reproduction. And neither is it about “Health” because it precisely causes the implantation of potential of sickness on account of the chemical component of contraceptives in forms of pills and injections. These are even topped by the fact that there are contraceptives that in effect lead to nothing less than abortion according to medical experts.

The Bill promotes promiscuity. Its guarantees the singular pleasure of repeated consummate copulations with neither attention to its consequences nor reservation about its import on the human dignity of those concerned. It strongly and continuously forwards copulative invitation without the least attention to the possibility of conception. If offers the continuous invitation to promiscuous sexual escapades not only among couples but also among “lovers”, inclusive of young people in terms of fornication. Furthermore, it encourages married couples to veritable adultery.

The Bill encourages irresponsibility. Sexually enjoy yourselves with anybody, at any time, at any place. Have all the sexual pleasure you can get from others, in any way and by all means. Absolutely no need to worry about any responsibility that copulations bring as matter of course in the order of nature. Never mind the many and serious unethical accompaniments when adults and young people engage in sexual acts unlimited. Reasons: Contraceptives supposedly “bought” by the government yet actually funded by taxpayers’ money are given away “gratis et amore”

The Bill forwards amorality. The intrinsic distinction between right and wrong, the inherent difference between good and evil—all these realities of long standing rule among all peoples of sound reason and good will are ably neutralized by the Bill. There is no more humanity in sexuality—simply instinct and self-indulgence. Strange but true: Even animals do not use contraceptives! Yet, they do not over-populate the earth. The spirit of the Bill does anything but inculcate the significance of ethics and morals as fundamental elements of just proper social life.

One again with feeling: The Bill does not enhance but debase human nature, erases human accountability, inclusive of promoting the ridicule of even elementary human good manners and right conduct. Poor Philippines!
