It might be not only absurd but also futile for all consummate private and government gambling lords to be reminded about the painful lamentation made by Christ Himself while hanging and dying at the Cross that grim and bloody Friday. Nevertheless, such detestable gambling characters devoid of conscience, in no way lessen the profound significance and big relevance of One of the Seven Last Words of Christ – categorically against gambling as synonymous to greed that is a terrible vice which deadens conscience and thereby destroys moral living. While crystal clear, said lords of gambling are not aware that in fact they are miserable slaves of money.
Syndicated and corporate gambling operators today in this poor Country long since sucking the already little blood left of destitute Filipinos, are exactly doing what was done to Christ that First Good Friday some two thousand years ago. By inducing particularly poor people to gamble, even the clothes at their backs are practically ripped from them by the gambling operators who likewise gleefully grab and covetously divide whatever item they could pocket from their victims – from thousands down to but several pesos, if not but some miserable centavos. Gambling per se has radically nothing to do with anything else but money, money, money.
If trusting gamblers is like welcoming deadly snakes to one’s home, cavorting with gambling operators is like embracing whitened sepulchers with everything rotten and putrid therein. The bigger their operations are, the more cash they grab, jewelries they get, i.o.u’s they collect. All these make the gambling operators exactly like fattened cows, all ready for their good roasting by the eventual fires of physical maladies and emotional miseries plus curses here and now – not to mention what could be in store for them hereafter and beyond. All famous gambling operators infamously end their lives, and at the same time infallibly drag their own families deep down into the gutters of society.
Thus it is that while gambling addicts are in effect deluded if not disordered in their personality constitution, gambling operators on the other hand in fact end up as amoral social agents whose only basis for thinking and acting is how much money they rake in from gullible gamblers. For these composite curses of society, what is objectively right or wrong, honest or dishonest, just or unjust, do not really matter. For these big parasites of society, what only matters is money, viz., how much money they can take away from foolish gamblers, and how they can have this done – irrespective of time, place and season.
Gambling corporations, institutions agencies and the like, all diligently attempt to cover the vice and curse they are peddling. Here is how: They call themselves as but “gaming” enterprises! How insidious! How shallow! How dopey!

follow the leader
Blessed is a Country whose chosen leaders are adorned with the attributes of personal integrity in addition to their official expertise in governance. Happy are the people whose public officials are their public servants, and whose taxes are mostly spent for their own public welfare. It is all right if the citizens are relatively poor on proviso however that those governing them are neither filthy rich at their expense, nor abusive of their rights contrary to the demands of elementary justice and social order. In this case, it is not only good but also right for people to follow the call specially their over-all leader. It is both an honor and a prestige to have and to follow a leader known for the latter’s integrity and probity.
On the other hand, cursed is a Country with falsely or basically ignoble elected government officials who look at the people as mere chattels, who trample upon their dignity as their practical slaves. Wallowing in numerous graft laden designs and in many gross corrupt practices, continuously indulging themselves in demeaning vices and shameful debauchery, such are the serious ethical liabilities and morals blunders that make public officials nothing less that the treacherous maledictions of their constituents . With such erring governing leadership, there is no need for upheavals of nature or fires from the heavens to destroy a Nation, to ruin a people. In this case, it becomes not only ridiculous but also dangerous for the citizens to follow their national leader.
This is exactly the case of the highest Filipino government leader proclaimed and certified as a champion in corruption, acknowledged as a verified topnotch in cheating and deceit – and yet outrageously and brazenly if not ridiculously calling for a “moral renewal” in the different government agencies! This is like someone well vested by sovereign amorality inviting not only subordinate state-run and controlled corporations but also public financial institutions to establish their moral ascendancy. Thus provides the Administrative Order No. 255: It is “directing the heads of the executive department to lead in the moral renewal of their agencies”. It is even given a starting date, viz., 14 May 2009. Before that, graft and corrupt practices are all right – as a matter of course.
This is like someone wallowing in the putrid waters plus high infectious mud, asking however everyone else to be clean and immaculate. This is exactly the picture of the incarnation of sin telling people to be saints. This is not only irony in its eminent expression but also hypocrisy in supreme degree. When a leader well renown and wherefore infamous for corruption, deceit and greed ever dares to call the latter’s subordinates to “moral renewal” – this is but the expression of a gross conscience, the manifestation constitutional errancy or the proclamation of delusion. And none of these sick and sickening factors is even rational!

as the country sinks, pagcor rises
The ruling administration is no longer funny for its glowing official attention accorded to the staged famous “Bankang Papel” and its glorious infamous vision of “Super Regions” in the Country. The present administration is certainly not wanting in basically imaginary projections plus other markedly hallucinatory socio-economic plans/programs together with its one too many formal pronouncements of glorified ghost achievements in the sphere of business and industry, in the area of peace and order. Concrete results: Extensive poverty and hunger extrajudicial killings and summary executions. Forced disappearances and media killings. Proliferation of illegal drugs and many well organized criminal syndicates. All these could mean anything but the hilarious claim of a “Strong Republic”.
This is not to mention the Broadband Network that in fact became a network of corruption. There is even nothing said here about the fertilizer that nurtured the cemented highways and asphalted roads in many cities. Neither is anything here pointed out about the Quedancor magic that made both capital and pigs disappeared into thin air. Nor is there something herein said about the WB Report that exposed the long standing tripod of Construction-Collusion-Corruption in pitiful Philippines. And how about the multi-billion peso “full” automation of the supposedly 2010 National Elections? While there cannot be but some people who know how to make it work, there are also enough characters in the Country who know how to ruin it. The “Hello Garci?” melodramatic presentation said so much of Philippine elections!
But wait! Less they be all bad news, the incumbent administration sees to it - in its twisted understanding and cross-eyed perspective – that even if the Country is sinking in its socio-economic situation and stinking in its socio-moral standing, there is something supposedly “good news” presumably for Filipinos to rejoice and be proud of. This: The now rising “cutting edge” Philippine Gambling Corporation owned and operated by the government itself. Cost: A whopping $15 million dollars. Place: No less than 120 hectares of “reclaimed” land along Manila Bay. Cover-up: It is an “entertainment resort” aimed for “leisure travel” in “big league” scale – but just the same, where “really serious players”, i.e., Big Time Gamblers – go “to roll in”.
Las Vegas and Macao – please stand aside! Big-time money launderers – welcome to the Philippines! Drug Lords, Jueting Lords, Lords of Graft and Corruption – be ready to gamble really big! Guns and goons after gold – you now where to go! Local and foreign professional gamblers - there is a place specially designed for your pleasure and convenience!
Away with toil and parsimony. Down with honesty and integrity. Long live illegal and “legal” gambling! Labor and industry – be gone! Indolence and luck – welcome! This is the odious scheme of this administration! This is the pitiful lot of the Philippines!
