statement

Since its foundation in 2001, the Krusadang Bayan Laban sa Jueteng (KBLJ) has been giving yearly awards and recognitions to local chief executives and other deserving personalities who demonstrated their integrity and resolve by expressly and categorically saying “No To Jueteng” in their respective areas of concern.

With deep regret, the KBLJ announces that the said significant annual event will have to be stopped because Malacañang in effect, legalized Jueteng through the introduction of the Small Town Lottery (STL) as its legal cover-up. Jueteng and STL are gambling twins exploiting the same poor people and benefiting the same gambling lords.

It is amazing how Malacañang has itself became addicted to gambling as the main beneficiary of gambling returns from all over the land through PAGCOR for the rich, Lotto for the middle class, and STL for the poor.

The KBLJ has thus resolved to attend to three primary agenda to counter the gambling culture promoted by Malacañang: First, to monitor the STL-Jueteng operations in the country. Second, to undertake a better structured anti-gambling education campaign. Third, to have a co-partner in its advocacy to be named and known as “Krusadang Bayan Laban sa Sugal” (KBLS).
