anti-jueteng task

The Krusadang Bayan Laban sa Jueteng has a specific task based on its avowed mission-vision statement.

The professed mission of the organization is to eradicate jueteng in the country, to remove this flagrant corrupt and corrupting illegal numbers game from the national picture. The country has long since suffered much from the clutches of jueteng operators and their protectors.

The opted vision of the crusade is to see a jueteng free Philippines where the poor and helpless are no longer exploited by the jueteng gambling syndicates, where work and industry become the dignified and dignifying preoccupation of the simple people with the simple dreams.

To realize the mission-vision resolve of the anti-jueteng crusade, it has since then concentrated on identifying and naming the notorious jueteng lords in Luzon. And this task has been already achieved. And that is why the crusade is now subsequently collaborating with pertinent house and senate committees, and competent DOJ commission.

As far as the crusade itself is concerned, it has not taken the burden of naming the jueteng payola beneficiaries from the local to the national levels. Much less does it intend to assume the work of bringing them to court and seeing them behind bars. The crusade will help but would not assume a lead role in this complementary work.

Thus it is that the crusade ex professo considers all suspect jueteng payola beneficiaries innocent until proven guilty. This is the cornerstone of due process. And the organization has no choice but to subscribe to this judicial principle.

But there appears to be group of witnesses who are ready and willing to risk their lives in naming the jueteng payola beneficiaries, specially those in the provincial, regional and national levels.

And there likewise appears to be another group of legal experts who shall subsequently take over in proving the guilt of the identified jueteng payola beneficiaries pointed by the witnesses—premised on payments made by the jueteng lord named by the Krusadang Bayan Laban sa Jueteng.
